Brazil survive USA scare to retain Confederations Cup.
In the Confederations Cup final played last Sunday in Johannesburg, South Africa, giant killers U.S.A. after leading 2-0 at half time against Brazil, were on the verge of creating the biggest upset in soccer history, till the Samba Kings found their rhythm in the second half and recovered to score three goals for a hard earned 3-2 victory. With two crucial goals in the final, Fabiano was the top scorer with five goals in as many matches to win the Golden Shoe. Brazil 's Coach Dunga, after the great victory praised FIFA player of the year and Man of the final match Kaka who was awarded the Golden Ball as the best player.
In the semi finals Brazil pipped hosts South Africa with a late goal and U.S.A. stunned Spain 2-0. For the third place, Spain defeated South Africa 3-2 in extra time. European Champions and World No. 1 Spain after recording their 15 th victory, needing one more to break Brazil's 35 match unbeaten record between 1993 and 1996, suffered the first loss since November 2006 at the hands of U.S.A. (0-2). In the latest FIFA rankings Brazil displaces Spain at the top.
