The
most sort after subject, "How to Stay Motivated?"; to achieve the same we tend
to refer books, rejuvenate mind and body through yoga and meditation, exercise,
attend goodwill meetings and what not. Yes, these practices definitely help us
to regain our energy and we indeed feel motivated to lead a better life. The
question is of sustainability? The
answer is FOCUS and DIRECTION…. Staying
motivated is a struggle - our drive is constantly assaulted by unconstructive
thoughts and apprehension about the future. Everyone faces uncertainty and dejection.
What separates the highly successful is the ability to keep moving forward. There
is no simple solution for a lack of motivation. However, the answer is within
one's self, it's our ability to understand our thoughts and how they drive
our emotions. By learning how to nurture motivating thoughts, neutralize negative
ones, and focus on the task at hand, we can pull ourselves out of difficult
situations before it gains momentum. In
today's environment we are focusing entirely on what we want and neglecting what
we already have. When you only think about what you want, your mind creates
explanations for why you are not getting it. This creates pessimistic thoughts.
Past failures, bad breaks, and personal weaknesses dominate your mind. You become
jealous of your competitors and start making excuses for why you can't succeed
in life. In this state, you tend to make a bad impression, assume the worst about
others, and lose your real focus in life. The way to get out of this thought
pattern is to focus on gratitude. Set aside time to focus on everything encouraging
in your life. Make a mental list of your strengths, past successes, and current
advantages. We tend to take our strengths for granted and dwell on our failures.
By making an effort to feel grateful, you'll realize how proficient and triumphant
you already are. This will rejuvenate your self-assurance and get you motivated
to build on your current success and status. To
Quote "Ask any Olympic athlete what they feel are the most important qualities
a champion must have and, inevitably, FOCUS will come to the top. Of course it
is necessary to have initiation, perseverance, commitment and a strong personal
ethic but the factor that brings all of these things together is FOCUS…" Focus
should be followed by direction. If focus means having an ultimate goal, direction
is having a day-to-day strategy to achieve it. A lack of direction destroys
motivation because without an action plan we succumb to procrastination. The key
to finding direction is identifying the activities that lead to success. For every
goal, there are activities that pay off and those that don't. Make a list of all
your activities and arrange them based on your priorities. Then make a make an
action plan that focuses on the activities that leads to profitable results in
your day to day life. Times
of low energy, bad luck and even the occasional failure's are unavoidable in one's
life. If you don't discipline (focus) your mind, these minor issues can turn into
major concerns and become a de-motivating factor in your life. By being focused,
you can preserve your motivation and propel yourself to success. Remember
when you can focus better you will feel better. When you feel better you are more
productive; and when you are more productive you are happier with both your personal
and professional life. So
set your goals for the day, week, month and year and then stay focused it will
definitely induce motivation. Wishing
