Grandson of the great Zoroastrian scholar Dr. (Sir) Jivanji Modi, Senior Advocate Nadir Modi did his Navar and Maratab from Navsari. A practising lawyer for the last 47 years, Modi has had a long and illustrious legal career. Modi is acknowledged as one of the finest legal minds. He singlehandedly, and without charging any fees, won the Court battle for upholding the legality of the Parsis-only covenants of over 100 buildings in the Dadar Parsi Colony.

Mithoo Jesia, a leader of the Dadar Parsee Colony says of Modi:- "Without him, Dadar Parsi Colony would have lost its Parsi character".

Nadir Modi has been associated for decades with numerous community bodies and charities including the Y.C.Z.A., the Wadiaji Atash Behram, the Boyce Agiary, the Sethna Charities, the Cama Convalescent Home. Ervad Modi is the Chairman of the Athornan Mandal which runs the Dadar Madressa.

Nadir Modi is a storehouse of legal and community knowledge and brings experience of more than half a century to the BPP.


He is perhaps the only charity management expert in India . Currently, the CEO of the Centre for Advancement of Philanthropy, Noshir Dadrawala, is connected with international philanthropic study centres in New York and Hong Kong, Harvard University , the London School of Economics. The list is endless.

Dadrawala is the author of several resource books on managing charity including the internationally acclaimed publication 'Philanthropy & Law in South Asia '. Noshir is a trustee of numerous charities, both communal and secular, and is a part of the visiting faculty of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

A community activist for more than two decades, Dadrawala speaks on charity issues round the world and continues to contribute regularly to the Parsi press. Few in India know more about charity trusts than Noshir Dadrawala.

A direct descendent of Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy, First Indian Baronet, Byram Jeejeebhoy has impeccable pedigree and a touch of class.

Byram Jeejeebhoy has 40 years experience in real estate with his family being one of the largest land owners of Mumbai.

Byram is associated with numerous Parsi charities including the Jeejeebhoy Dadabhoy Agiari at Colaba, the Byram Jeejeebhoy School and the Nanabhoy Jeejeebhoy Charity Trust.

Byram Jeejeebhoy is a man of diverse talents including flying military aircraft, thoroughbred breeding and is also highly accomplished violinist from U.K.

Jeejeebhoy was awarded the fellowship of the Royal Geographic Society, the Honorary Knighthood of the City of London , the coveted Vijay Ratna Award for enrichment of human life, and lately, the prestigious award of the Freedom of the City of London

Byram Jeejeebhoy, the great grandson of late Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy, will bring to the BPP compassionate charity management experience of over four decades.


A sitting trustee of the BPP, Maneck Engineer is known in the community as the man who constructed Godrej Baug. A structural engineer by training, Manek is Senior Vice President of Godrej & Boyce, an organization which he has steadfastly served for the last 44 years.

Maneck's experience in construction of residential townships and buildings is legendary. A keen environmentalist, Maneck is involved with various Parsi charities including the Godrej Foundation, the Banaji Atash Behram and the Mevawalla Agiyari.

Maneck Engineer is the only sitting trustee of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet who has not been able to complete even his first term in office due to the present elections being held in October.

Involved with the BPP since 1979, Maneck's knowledge about the Parsi Panchayet is second to none. Maneck ensures continuity, being the only sitting trustee, in the AFP Panel.


Dr. Ketayun Dinshaw, Director, Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital at Parel. Dr. Dinshaw's bio-data is so impressive that it is almost unbelievable. A FFR/FRCR and DMRT from London , Dr. Dinshaw has worked as a Registrar in the famous Addenbrookes Hospital , Cambridge , U.K. , for four years and has served the Tata Cancer Hospital for nearly 35 years.

Under her leadership, the Tata Cancer Hospital has grown from strength to strength and has been voted as the best Oncology Centre in India .

Awarded the Padma Shri by the President of India, Dr. Dinshaw is a highly decorated doctor against the dreaded disease of cancer. She has been a President of the International Society for Radiation Oncology, A Council member of the International Union Against Cancer, a member of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board.

Dr. Dinshaw is a member of so many expert and scientific committees that it would take a couple of hours to read the list. She has more than 250 publications to her credit and has delivered numerous lectures.

She has been conferred the award for Excellence in Professional Competence by the Federation of the Parsi Zoroastrian Anjumans of India as also the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Zoroastrian Foundation and the Great Women Achiever Award 2007 in the field of Medicine by FICCI / FLO.

Dr. Ketayun Dinshaw will retire from the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital in November, 2008 and has graciously agreed to serve her community. Padma Shri, Dr. Ketayun Dinshaw, is truly a living legend.


SOHRAB ERACH DASTUR, popularly, Soli Dastur, is another living legend, not only in the Parsi community, but in the entire country.

Dastur, in his 50 th year of practice as a lawyer, is India 's leading income-tax jurist.

He is presently Chairman of the Income-tax Appellate Tribunal Bar Association. Past President of the Chamber of Tax Consultants and Chairman of the International Fiscal Association, Western India Region as well as of the Income-tax Appellate Tribunal Co-ordination Committee of the All India Federation of Tax Practitioners. He has written books and articles on several legal subjects and addressed many seminars and conferences. He has been advising diverse charitable organizations and trusts in a purely honorary capacity. He has freely given his time in advising the Parsi Punchayet on several occasions and has appeared for the Punchayet in several tax litigations.

After the late Nani Palkhiwala, Soli Dastur is the last word on Income-tax law for countless corporates and numerous charities. More importantly, SOHRAB ERACH DASTUR is such excellent human material. As they say, they don't make them any more.
