Aphrodite
is the Greek Goddess of love and Venus is her name when she's in
Rome. Aphrodite lends her name to the substances that ignite and
improve sexual function and desire. Since ancient times, passionate
creatures have sought to heighten their own desire and that of their
lovers. For instance, oysters are considered to be an effective
aphrodisiac and what makes it work is the secret ingredient Zinc,
the element that nourishes the human body. If you make your body
happy, it will make you happy!
Another popular aphrodisiac is Ashwagandha - Withania Somnifera
an ayurvedic herb similar to Indian ginseng that has been traditionally
used for libido, fatigue, mental problems, concentration, memory,
general debility, nervous and sexual debility, headaches, drug burnout,
rejuvenation and recovery from prolonged illness.
Ginseng - chiefly an herb for men - is prized in the Orient and
in Appalachia. The erotic properties are felt from the Korean and
American varieties that are known to increase endurance in men,
almost immediately after consumption. With Ginseng you will get
what you pay for! Buy the tinctured root from an Oriental market
and don't go in for the inexpensive varieties. Koreans are experts
in its cultivation and preparation. Don't waste your money on some
powder-filled gel caps from a conventional grocery or health food
store, not if you want the erotic benefits!
Ever heard of Damiana? Traditionally a woman's aphrodisiac, it is
known to rock your inhibitions. And then, there's Cayenne that not
only releases endorphins into the systems of men and women and builds
the immune system, but in men it also builds and fans a fire. Loaded
with vitamin C, its erotic effects are most effective shortly after
consumption.
That apart, a substance is widely recommended for men to improve
staying power is Dhea. It works in the body as hormone building
fuel for whatever hormones are deficient. What is little known about
it is that it can be very useful for women who are just plain tired
and have no amorous drive. The reason behind this in women is often
a lack of testosterone.
Contrary to popular perception, testosterone is necessary for women's
amorous appetites. The sublingual form is the best. Give it 10 days
to work. Don't take it all at a time, but after an interval of a
few weeks. And then, not many are aware of the miraculous benefits
of Maca. Lepidium meyenii is a root vegetable related to the wild
Mexican yam. It grows in the mountains of Peru at altitudes of 9
to 11,000 feet; making it the highest cultivated plant in the world.
Native Peruvians have used Maca as a food since before the time
of the Incas for both its nutritional and medicinal properties.
Incidentally, Maca was a staple food for the Inca with an almost
mythical reputation for vitality, sexual desire and performance.
It contains nutrients such as carbohydrates, fatty acids, protein,
fibre, amino acids and minerals.
And,
how about some bone soup? It was not easy wresting this Egyptian
folk secret from them but here it is: To increase a man's sexual
performance, make a soup from the leg bone of a cow or goat. Apparently,
the soup made from this marrow packs a stamina punch in the love
department. Add red pepper, onions and garlic and any other natural
ingredients. Let the bone sit in the soup. It will thicken it as
well. Not to forget, Yohimbe. It's known to increase blood flow
everywhere. The consumer is known to sweat and shiver with desire
but start with half a spoon of the powdered herb made into a tea.
Everyone is different so you can build from there if you can handle
it! You've got to give it a good three hours the first time to see
how you like it. If not, you are asking for trouble with nothing
sexy about it like a heart attack and vomiting.
Yohimbe is more a man's herb by African tradition but then, the
yohimbe loves women too and is kinder to them in terms of side-effects
with all the heart pounding in tact.
Interestingly, an ancient form of aromatherapy as aphrodisiac is
jasmine. The jasmine must be pure and is referred to as 'jasmine
absolute'. Dilutions of jasmine and synthetic jasmine oils may smell
nice, but will get you nowhere. Actually after you've smelled the
real thing, the fake ones won't even smell nice to you!
That's because one of the most potent forces of attraction at the
subconscious level through brain input is through the sense of smell.
Now, that explains why aromas are used immensely to boost attraction
levels - for romance.
Considering that it's the desire to perform well and long enough
that spurs the need to resort to aphrodisiacs, there're aphrodisiacs
such as brinjals, muli some as outlandish as potions made out of
a rhino horn or a tiger's penis to enhance male potency or increase
the size of a man's organ too.
