The Rising appears to be the best bet on Sunday

Pune: The S.N.Joshi-trained The Rising (Forest Fair -Miss Padmini) to be ridden by the forceful Western India veteran jockey Mallesh Narredu, seems to be the best bet for this Sunday's races (20/8/06). This speedy 3-year-old gelding is competing in The 1000 Metres Sub-Area Commander's Trophy(Div-I)which has a big field of 15 horses. The Rising is raring to go and is in the pink of condition, as he has tracked splendidly & has an extremely good chance to gain his maiden victory. My Selections for Sunday (20/8/06).

1st Race Jubilation 1 Cosmos 2 Premier Star 3
2nd Race Evatina 1 One Way 2 Sea Spray 3
3rd Race Lady Trooper 1 Alamshara 2 Incomparable 3
4th Race The Rising 1 Stunning Star 2 Sound Of Silence 3
5th Race Escravos 1 Count Du Monet 2 Star Queen 3
6th Race Fall Of The Hammer 1 Leonora 2 Out To Win 3
7th Race Art Of War 1 The Great Pansy 2 Thunder Zone 3
Days Best: The Rising

Rank Outsider Goodness Gracious wins Feature

Pune: The Faisal A.Abbas-trained 5-year-old mare Goodness Gracious (Diffident-Amorsa) was ridden to a confident start-to-finish decisive 2-1/2length victory by the forceful Bangalore-based jockey K.P.G.Appu in the feature race of the 10-race card which was run her last Sunday (13/8/06). She was totally neglected in the betting and won at about 20-1 and over in the ring and she paid Rs 231 for a mere Rs 10 wager on the tote.

The favourite the S.Padmanabhan trained Amazing Power, finished a dismal 3rd behind the 2nd placed Live Legend and filling the frame to be a mediocre 4th was Adam's Star.

Last Sunday's (13/8/06) impressive performers who merit a following are:

Intrinsic Value (1000-1400M) who was too speedy for her rivals in The 1200 M Romantic Feelings Plate.

Wild Cat (up to 1400M) who was a late and close fast finishing 2nd to Maranello in the 4th race of the day.

Secret Memory(1400-2000M) who won the 8th race of the day over 1400 M impressively by a distance.

Priapus (1600-2000 M) who superbly won the 9th race over 1400 M, thus boosting his Pune Derby chances.

Cry Of Truth (1600-2400M) who was far too good in the last race over 1800M, which she won splendidly.
