People are aware of the Arts - Karate, Judo, Tae Kwon Do, Tai Chi,
Aikido, Eskrima, etc; but very few are aware of the Art called Ninjutsu.
Basically, it's an Art for Survival learnt and practiced by one
& all viz. teenagers …….. Senior citizens.
The word "Ninjutsu" has several meanings, viz. "The Art of Stealth/Espionage/Invisibility/
Shadow Warrior/Assassination/Protecting against Danger". Its legendary
practitioners were known as NINJA'S, who used to accomplish their
mission, goals / objectives by stealing into heavily guarded fortresses
and would vanish undetected. However its skills were better known
as "The Art of Winning and Totality". It's a comprehensive fighting
art refined into a Deadly Science, incorporating sophisticated techniques
of warfare, an illumination of awareness and spiritual refinement,
complete development of mind, body & spirit of a Warrior, thus giving
one a complete Martial Art training and self-discipline.
It helps to encounter and cope up with various conflicts one encounters
in daily life, using unlimited skills, strategies, philosophies,
tactics and techniques. In short, this art helps to protect oneself,
their loved ones, friends and lastly nation. It encompasses a wide
variety of specialized fighting skills using armed as well as unarmed
techniques of combat, and various weapons and tools of warfare.

Ninjutsu is not merely a science of killing, deception and espionage,
but in fact, it is an art having deeply rooted and set in philosophy,
having a rich appreciation for culture. [A profound understanding
in Zen, Taoism, Shintoism and Buddhism combining with Martial arts
(Bumon) and religion (Shumon)]. It is known by its higher spiritual
significant name "NINPO" teaching us to live within the natural
laws of Nature with fully developed martial art techniques. NINJUTSU
covers all the skills, some stress on physical, some spiritual,
and some esoteric, however the study of all the disciplines helps
one to become a total warrior in all aspects. On e not only becomes
an expert combatant, a formidable fighting machine, a weapon expert,
but also a clever technician, a master strategist, an intelligent
operator, a knowledgeable chemist, a doctor, a meteorologist and
a wilderness survival expert coping with any situation it demands
any time, anywhere.
The word NINJA came from the character "NIN" meaning patience, endurance,
perseverance, stealth which is the main essence of NINUTSU and the
word "JA" means man. A modern Ninja greatly emphasis on self-protection
than clandestine warfare, resolving to physical combat only. (if
necessary). Overcoming an adversary is the least efficient way of
dealing an aggression. As "SUN TZU the Art of War" says "To subdue
an enemy without fighting shows the highest levels of skills, for
war is an act of violence pushed to its utmost bounds. Weapons are
ominous tools to be used only when there is no alternative. No country
has benefited from a protracted war. Thus supreme art of War is
to subdue an enemy without fighting that is the Acme of skill".
It's a pragmatic art, used not for competition to score effective
points but geared for protection and survival on street. It teaches
to endure pain and fatigue in order to achieve a desired goal, at
the same time builds survival activities beyond that of an average
person.
The Essence of all Martial Arts and Military strategies is self-protection
and prevention of Danger. The Ninja not only deals with the protection
of the physical body, but also over his mind and spirit. It is not
merely striking, slashing and defeating the enemy; but it is the
way of attaining to make the World a better place to live in.
Thus, it is an Art of Totality, Winning, & Survival, combining
the most complex and diversified sciences of Martial Arts known
to man and thus making their "Way of Life." In 1980's the World
of Martial Art saw a great revival of the Art of Ninjutsu
& the West, established the creditability and gave the art its recognition
amongst other Martial Arts. In the early 70's, due to efforts of
two men - "Doran Novon of Israel" & "Stephan Hayes of U.S.A." got
trained under the two living Grand Masters of Ninjutsu - "Soke Dr.
Massaki Hatsumi of Bujinkan Togakure Ryu Ninpo" & "Soke Shoto Tanemura
of Genbukan Ninjutsu, who drew their lineage, inherited from the
33rd Grand Master "Toshitsugu Takamatsu", known a s the "Mongolian
Tiger" until his death. Earlier, the art was kept as a secret
tradition & was preached only to selected disciples. It surfaced
and became known to the Western World as "NINJUTSU"- The Martial
Art of the Twenties.
